ACTOR Will Mellor, star of White Van Man, has blasted the BBC for axing comedy shows, saying: "We need some laughs in the current climate."
He adds: "Comedy is a source of great relief for people. It gives viewers a release from the drama in their own lives."
The dad of two, who sprang to fame in Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, said: "I love making people laugh and lightening their lives a little bit."
